FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

We get asked a lot of questions, so we thought we’d answer as many as possible here.

  1. How much does a website, logo, or brochure cost?

This is the toughest question to answer because we’re offering services, not products. It’s like trying to divide your salary into fixed amounts for all the projects you do every day. Every client is different, so there’s no easy formula for how much time a project will take. What we request is some of your time (a lunch meeting or conference call) to discuss your needs, plus filling out our website planner form. Then, then we can devise an estimate that will point us in the right direction.

  2. How can I save money on my project?

We always suggest that clients spend the time to think through their project and determine what the purpose and target audience is for their brochure, website, PR efforts or logo. Minimizing the number of times that something is revised or changed always saves money. Also, costs can escalate when you know what you want, but you can’t describe what that is or you only know what you don’t like.

  3. What’s the best way to plan my website?

Creating a website can be an overwhelming experience. What should be included? What needs to be said? Where do I find pictures? How do all these ideas turn into reality? What is even possible for my budget?

    1. Explore what you need your website to be able to do, both today and in the future. Do you need to take credit cards, register for events or play videos? Outline the functionality you need from your site.
    2. Determine your budget.
    3. We’ll help you sort through your ideas to discover what you can do for your current budget. Realize that you don’t have to do the following steps; we can do it for you if your budget allows.
    4. Decide what pages and navigation buttons you’d like on your site.
    5. If you’ve got a complicated site, make a map with the pages and their hierarchy. Outline functionality for each area.
    6. Itemize what should be on the home page.
    7. Create and/or gather content, photos, database information, etc.

  4. Do you offer Content Management Systems (CMS)? Can I edit my own content?

Yes! We can give you the capability to edit your content and offer “web 2.0″ features. You’ll have an admin interface where you can update text and photos.

We will assess your needs and then choose the best CMS to implement for your project. The solutions we implement will enable you to edit your own content and upload your own images 24/7. No strings attached to our work: NO outdated homegrown systems with outrageous monthly licensing fees, NO holding your data hostage, NO used car salesman tactics here! You own your own data and have control of your website when we build it for you.

  5. What industries do you specialize in?

We know everyone says that we should create a niche if we want to get rich. The problems with this is that we don’t like being bored. We don’t want to do thousands of cookie-cutter projects. Our niche is graphic design, web development, communications and writing.

We have experience working with clients in several industries, including:

    • Associations
    • Architecture
    • Churches
    • Construction/Remodeling
    • Distribution
    • Financial Services
    • Foundations
    • Healthcare
    • Magazines
    • Manufacturing
    • Music
    • Non-Profits
    • Online Businesses/E-Commerce
    • Orthodontics/Endodontics
    • Real Estate
    • Skilled Trades
    • Small Businesses
    • Training Companies
  6. What is your experience with small businesses and non-profits?

Over the years, we’ve worked for many companies of all sizes and persuasions. Since we are a small company ourselves, we’ve found a lot of joy in helping other small companies compete with the big boys.

And we have to admit, we love how small companies cut through the red tape and get things done! We also value non-profits and their work for our society. With this in mind, we endeavor to work with small businesses to provide scalable solutions within their budget. It’s our goal to provide you the service and expertise of having an on-staff marketing person–when needed–without the cost and overhead.

  7. What is website hosting? Do you offer it?

Website hosting covers two ongoing needs for every website: storage and bandwidth. Storage is impacted by the size of the files on your website. Bandwidth, which is data transfer, is impacted by the popularity of your website. If you’ve ever heard of a website “going down” because it was too popular, it’s because the bandwidth limit was exceeded. Hosting is a critical component to the reliability, speed, and technological abilities of your website.

We recommend that our clients host their websites with us to save time, money and ensure quality website performance. We provide high quality hosting, with statistics, daily back-ups, powerful control panels and more. It is our goal to provide you with affordable and effective hosting, which ultimately enables you to save time and money on website updates. 8. Can you work with social media?

We are involved with Linkedin, Facebook, Twitter, Delicious, plus we monitor many websites and blogs through our feeds. With our technology and public relations experience, we can help you develop a social networking presence as well as take advantage of the many promotion opportunities. However, realize that social media is not just a one-time experience, it’s an ongoing relationship with your audience.

  9. Do you offer Search Engine Optimization (SEO) or online advertising?

Websites can always be improved to increase their placement on search engines, and we can help you optimize the keywords, metatags, and content on your site. But realize that Google is very smart–and all the services out there that promise instant results make us roll our eyes. Here’s a good rule of thumb: the more people that link to you, the better your search engine results will be.

Although websites on our servers automatically come with website statistics, Google Analytics is an excellent way to dig deeper into your website statistics to understand and research your website traffic. We can set up Google Analytics functionality for you.

Online advertising can be an excellent method to promote your business if you can reach your target audience in that way. We recommend Google AdWords for our clients, and we’d be happy to help you set up and administrate your online ad campaigns.
